  For a travel lodge my first experience was the woeful car park. It appears someone was using several spaces to store off the road vehicles for storage. As a second insult the car park was also chargeable, especially considering the tiny size. Once in the hotel we found a dated and tired decor which badly needed renovating. Once in the room I found I didn't have any plugs near the bed for phone charging. The room also included a broken desk fan, a wall heater which had been left on the maximum setting- leaving the room stiflingly hot- and a TV so old it could pick up signals from the 80s. The toilet in the room had a faulty cistern which continuously drained water into the toilet keeping me up the first night until I managed to fix it myself as the receptionist couldn't help.
  Finally the most worrying part was after the first night I went off to work only to arrive back in the room and found evidence that someone had been rifling through my suitcase. I raised the issue with the receptionist and was told flat out that I was imagining things and that 'they had known the housekeepers for years' and no-one else had been in the room. This was contradicted two seconds later when they told me a contractor had been in the room to 'fix the window'. Overall, a pretty poor experience across the board. I definitely won't be choosing this establishment again. I wouldn't recommend it either unless you are completely desperate.
